Why choose handmade soaps
Handmade soap has a luxurious quality which is soft on the skin. This is largely due to the glycerine still imbued in the soap. Most commercial soaps have the glycerine removed, leaving the skin feeling clean but dry. Also handmade soap recipes are often ‘superfatted’, so there are excess oils in the bar to remain on the skin. However handmade soaps can become a little mushy at times due to the overall softness of some oils used, like olive oil. This can be minimised by blending in harder fats but most people accept this as part of the moisturising effect of a natural product. Special essential oils like lavender and fragrances added to the soap further enhance the softness and quality.
